This spring was full of learning and exploration at Lion Mountain, with school groups visiting from across the Flathead Valley, including Columbia Falls, Olney, Whitefish, and Kalispell. We hosted 14 field trips for 29 classes, welcoming a total of 627 students to the outdoors!
Students explored a wide range of hands-on education topics including track identification, scat and skulls, tree identification, habitats, predator-prey relationships, the five senses, squirrels, and food webs.
A huge thank you to Kevin Becker, who provided busing for 11 of the 14 trips. These experiences would not have been possible without his support and a generous grant from the Flathead Conservation District, which helped cover transportation costs and provided funding for new educational materials including skull replicas.

Love that 627 students got hands-on with track ID, scat, and predator habitats! Those live lessons are exactly what keeps kids curious. I've been looking for more resources like this for my classroom. https://nemotron-ai.com
