Join us this May for the 7th Annual Hit the Trail Challenge, a month-long community event celebrating health, outdoor recreation, and conservation! Whether you’re hiking, running, biking, or riding horseback, every mile you log on the Whitefish Trail helps support our local trails and land conservation.

Health and wellness sponsors include: Logan Health Foundation, The IV Element, Whitefish Convention and Visitors Bureau, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana, and The Wave Aquatic and Fitness Center and Park Side Credit Union.

This year, we’re thrilled to partner with Connect Whitefish’s Walk N Roll initiative, a Whitefish community group who aim to encourage human-powered transportation, walking, biking, and rolling, to navigate Whitefish. This initiative promotes reduced vehicle traffic and fosters safer streets and healthier habits. Together, the Hit the Trail Challenge and Walk N Roll will inspire our community to embrace an active lifestyle while making a positive impact on the town we love.

Miles can be logged for both programs with an online form, by joining the Hit the Trail Challenge Strava Club, or by paper log sheet. Awards and raffle prizes will be given to participants who hit certain targets throughout the month.

Last year 600+ participants crisscrossed the entire 47-mile Whitefish Trail and logged almost 29,000 miles! Join us and challenge yourself, your friends and family, or compete as an HOA or workplace team.

Throughout the month, workplaces compete as teams to tally the most miles on the Whitefish Trail. Last year we had 14 Workplace Teams from local business and non-profits, and the Muldown Teachers team took home Sheldon, the Workplace Team Trophy. Other past winners include Healthy Living Coop in 2019, Competitive Timing in 2020, the Wave in 2021 & 2023, Heartstone Advisors in 2022. Workplace Teams are a great way to build team spirit and encourage employees and employee family members to be active on the Whitefish Trail. We also welcome HOAs as teams, so mobilize your neighbors and sign up!
