WT Learning Pavilion Open!

Whitefish Legacy Partners recently celebrated the Grand Opening of the Whitefish Trail Learning Pavilion with the City of Whitefish and other partners. Construction was a wonderful success and we now have a beautiful structure and site which offers the community a wonderful outdoor gathering place for education activities.

WLP hosted our first official school field trip at the WT Learning Pavilion when 125 third graders from Muldown Elementary visited last week. It was great to see the site filled with children learning about our local water supply and enjoying the outdoors.

We would again like to thank all of the partners that made this project possible. The Rotary Club of Whitefish was instrumental in initiating this project and the WT Learning Pavilion is dedicated in memory to Robert DePratu, a long time Rotary member.

Thank you also to the Whitefish Community Foundation who supported this project early on through their Annual Community Grant Program in 2012. This year, WLP was awarded another grant from the Whitefish Community Foundation to support curriculum development and acquisition of materials for hands-on educational programming at the WT Learning Pavilion. WLP has over 35 educational activities planned this year and have been successful in partnering with educators, organizations, local schools and government agencies to create educational programs for the community.

Additional WT Learning Pavilion funders include North Valley Hospital, Plum Creek Foundation, Whitefish Community Foundation, Keen Footwear, Ila B. Dousman Foundation, Recreational Trails Program, and Montana Office of Tourism.

We have a busy summer planned and we are excited about the children’s programs, guided hikes, fitness activities and speaker series based at the WT Learning Pavilion.  For more information, visit www.whitefishlegacy.org or call 406-862-3880 or email info@whitefishlegacy.org.
