Update: Burning at Spencer Mountain

Trail users please note that the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation will be burning slash piles starting today, Wednesday, November 18th, in South Spencer in the Rifle Range Road area. They will continue burning in the northern part of Spencer and some of those large piles in central Spencer over the next couple of days. The trails in Spencer Mountain are not closed, we just encourage users to be cautious in areas where they are burning.

11.21.2015 Update: Due to the lack of snow on the ground, burning has been delayed in north Spencer Mountain. With open burning season ending November 30th, they may not get to these piles until spring.

11.24.2015 Update: With snow now covering the ground across northwest Montana, the DNRC has resumed plans to start burning slash piles at Spencer Mountain. The trails are not closed but we ask users to be aware and avoid areas where they are working. Burning will take place in both north and south Spencer starting today, Tuesday, November 24th.
