Spencer to Beaver Forest Management Project Update

Montana DNRC recently finalized the Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Spencer to Beaver Forest Management Project, which proposes forest health treatments and timber harvest on state trust lands west of Whitefish, including areas near the Beaver Lakes and Spencer Mountain trail systems. Whitefish Legacy Partners submitted comments, and many community members also shared feedback focused on recreation, trail protection, and scenic values. We appreciate our partners at DNRC for considering these comments and incorporating mitigation measures into the final EA, and we will continue working together to ensure trail access and user experiences are maintained as the project moves toward implementation, anticipated for spring 2026.
