Mid Month Update: Hit the Trail Challenge & Walk N Roll

  • May 21
  • 2 min read

We’re over halfway through this year’s Hit the Trail Challenge, and from May 1–21, you’ve already logged just over 10,000 miles on the Whitefish Trail!

The good news: based on past years, most participants submit their mileage totals at the end of the month, so we’re still on pace to reach our goal. But we need more people to log their miles.

Our trail counters show just how many people are out on the trail. Between May 1–21, counters recorded 3,191 visits at Lion Mountain alone—and that’s only one trailhead. With 14 other WT trailheads, we know there are thousands of additional miles still waiting to be logged.

Our goal is to reach 30,000 miles logged, and with the number of people out enjoying the trail, we know it’s possible. If you’ve been hiking, biking, running, or walking, make sure those miles count by logging them through the online form, or our Strava Club.

As we work toward our mileage goal, we’re also looking for additional business sponsors to help match the miles being logged and turn trail use into direct support for the Whitefish Trail. More miles logged means more impact for the trail we all love. Contact info@whitefishlegacy.org if you or your business would like to be a HTTC sponsor!

Don't forget that your in-town miles count for Connect Whitefish’s Walk N Roll Initiative, a City program designed to encourage human-powered transportation around Whitefish. So far, this year, you have logged almost 80 walking and cycling trips into and around Whitefish that eliminated car travel. We would love to increase this number to 500 by the end of the month. Keep Walking N Rolling!

Thanks to everyone who came out for this year's Loopy! We had over 55 people participate and an impressive number of biking and running loops completed, especially given the snow and moody weather in the morning!

Most loops BIKED: 5 loops, 45 miles, 5,780 vert

Most loops RAN: 12 loops, 41 miles, 6,043 vert

Most loops HIKED: 4 loops, 13.71 miles, 2,014 vert

TOTAL LOOPS: 160 & TOTAL MILES: 688.56

Shoutout to Whitefish Chiropractic Center and Third Street Market for hanging out with us and bringing goodies for this special event.

Thanks to all our participants! Keep logging your miles to support the WT!

AND THANKS AGAIN TO OUR SPONSORS!

That’s Not My Neighbor is a gripping horror game for players who enjoy tense decision-making and carefully spotting hidden danger. Its unsettling atmosphere, clever inspection mechanics, and constant feeling of suspicion make every shift feel engaging, while mastering each encounter takes far more focus than it first appears.
