Over the past month, conditions on the WT have been highly variable. Until recently, much of the trail system was caught in a freeze–thaw cycle leading to frost heaves, muddy stretches, and uneven tread. Late December rain combined with fluctuating temperatures likely caused soil moisture to repeatedly expand and contract, creating challenging and unpredictable surface conditions. This year, and for the first time ever, summer camps will take place at the new  Whitefish Legacy Center ! More details to come. For more exciting news, keep your eye on the  youth page  of our website for new camps, including an additional Girls on the Trail camp for girls 14-16!   This summer, there will be  5 CIT (counselor in training)  openings  for youth ages 13-16 who want to work with kids on the Whitefish Trail while practicing job skills and participating in outdoor education.
