Field Trip Description

Lion Mountain Trailhead. Max 45 students/ 2 classes per day. (**If the available dates, times, and/or class size restrictions do not work for your needs, please do not hesitate to email us, so we can work on a solution.) *WHITEFISH LEGACY PARTNERS RELIES HEAVILY ON VOLUNTEERS TO MAKE FIELD TRIPS HAPPEN. BOOKING THIS FIELD TRIP DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOUR SPOT. WE WILL NOTIFY YOU THAT THE FIELD TRIP IS CONFIRMED VIA EMAIL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.* Field Trip Description: Students will explore their natural surroundings using their 5 senses. They will also work cooperatively to engineer and build a balanced structure. Students should be prepared for a 2 mile hike. Essential Questions: What makes an object better able to create a balanced tower? What can we learn about our surroundings by using our senses? Instructional Goals: • Kindergartners will work together in small groups to build a balanced structure. • Kindergartners will hike and explore using the 5 senses in the forests along the Whitefish Trail. Educational Standard(s): K-2-ETS1-2. Develop a simple sketch, drawing, or physical model to illustrate how the shape of an object helps it function as needed to solve a given problem. K-2-ETS1-3. Analyze data from tests of two objects designed to solve the same problem to compare the strengths and weaknesses of how each performs. Overview of Activities: -Sensory Hike -Sensory Motor Scavenger Hunt -Make a Nature Bracelet -Forest Balance Building -Lunch at the Learning Pavilion

If you need to cancel or reschedule your Whitefish Trail Field Trip, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance. Whitefish Legacy Partners might choose to cancel a field trip due to extreme weather conditions, so please be sure to check your email the morning of the trip.
