Whitefish Trail wins 2019 RTP Grant!

Montana’s Recreational Trails Program has been a strong and consistent funding source for the Whitefish Trail since 2011. This year, the City and WLP applied for funding to help with several important maintenance projects on the Whitefish Trail, especially at areas of highest use. The $17,500 grant will fund tread repair at Lion Mountain, replacement of damaged or outdated trail signs, and help fund plowing, trailhead cleaning, and other maintenance tasks. Additionally, the grant will provide funding for a short reroute at the Two Bear Road crossing to improve lines of sight and partially fund a new Whitefish Trail Coordinator position. Montana State Parks administers this federally funded grant program from the national motor fuel excise tax.
