May Whitefish Trail Report

We are in a sweet spot on the Whitefish Trail between mud season and dust season! The trails are in great shape, and the flowers are popping up all over! The trails were drying out quickly in some places, so the recent rains are a welcome remedy. There have been reports of buggy spots near Woods and Dollar Lake and between Skyles and Beaver - nothing a slight breeze won't fix.
As we are all getting back out on the trails, please remember that the Skyles Trailhead parking lot has a limit of 6 vehicles. We are fortunate to have an agreement with the local landowners in the area to have a trailhead at this location. As Skyles Lane is a private road, there are a limited number of parking spots to lessen the impact on the neighborhood. If the Skyles trailhead is full, please try another trailhead.
Note: Road construction on US 93 west of Whitefish will begin on Monday, May 19. Lion Mountain, Skyles, Twin Bridges, Beaver Lakes, and Lupfer Trailheads will remain open as usual with anticipated delays as construction proceeds. The work includes construction of a shared use path from town to Twin Bridges Road and is expected to be completed in 2026. To receive text updates on the project from MDT, text 93WESTWHITEFISH to 41411.

Trail users, be mindful! Skyles Trailhead has limited parking (6 vehicles). US 93 construction delays expected. Consider alternate trailheads (Lion Mountain, etc.).
