About the event

Join Flathead Audubon and Whitefish Legacy Partners for a quiet morning of exploration into the lives of local birds while learning the basics of birding.

Binoculars and spotting scopes will be provided, but feel free to bring your personal binoculars and birding books as well!

This event is free and suitable for adults and mature children. RSVPs are required. Please cancel via email if you change plans.

Note about Smith Lake Trailhead: After you turn off Lakeshore Drive, you will drive for ~1 mile on a dirt road to reach the actual trailhead. Keep driving until you hit the end of the dirt road! This road is rough in spots, so take it slow if using a vehicle that is lower to the ground. NOTE: there is NO bathroom of any kind at Smith Lake.

ACCESSIBILITY: The Smith Lake parking area is on a dirt surface and has no bathrooms. During the event, we will be traveling on a single track, dirt trail. This trail can be accessed by walking or by using an off road mobility device. We would love to work with you in any way we can to help you attend this event--please reach out with any questions about accessibility!
