Field Trip Description

Lion Mountain Trailhead. Max 50 students/ 2 classes. (**If the available dates, times, and/or class size restrictions do not work for your needs, please do not hesitate to email us, so we can work on a solution.) *WHITEFISH LEGACY PARTNERS RELIES HEAVILY ON VOLUNTEERS TO MAKE FIELD TRIPS HAPPEN. BOOKING THIS FIELD TRIP DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOUR SPOT. WE WILL NOTIFY YOU THAT THE FIELD TRIP IS CONFIRMED VIA EMAIL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.* Field Trip Description: Through exploration, observation, and hands-on activities, students will learn about what critters live on the Whitefish Trail. They will work together to identify tracks, hunt for animal signs, and build habitats in the woods. Students should be prepared for a 2-3 mile hike. Essential Question: Where do different kinds of living things live on land and in the water? What evidence can we find that living things live on and around the Whitefish Trail? Instructional Goals: 1. Opportunity for connection with the outdoors 2. Opportunity for hiking/physical activity 3. Education on habitats, animal tracks, animal movement patterns. Educational Standards: 2-LS2-2 Develop a simple model that mimics the function of an animal in dispersing seeds or pollinating plants. 2-LS4-1 Make observations of plants and animals to compare the diversity of life in different habitats. Overview of Activities: - Hike to the overlook - Habitat Scavenger Hunt - Track I.D. - Habitat Building - Lunch at the Learning Pavilion

If you need to cancel or reschedule your Whitefish Trail Field Trip, please contact us at least 24 hours in advance. Whitefish Legacy Partners might choose to cancel a field trip due to extreme weather conditions, so please be sure to check your email the morning of the trip.
