Early March Trail Report
What a difference a year makes! Look at the photos below from Lion Mountain taken February 26, 2016 compared to the photo taken today! The valley snow pack is pretty amazing this year, and forecasters are calling for yet another major valley snow storm later this week.
The trails at Lion Mountain, Swift Creek, Skyles, and Beaver Lakes are hard packed and in great shape for all winter activity, including fat biking and trail running. Traction devices are still recommended as the tread remains 100% snow packed at all locations. As we approach the spring freeze-thaw cycles, take note that trails will transition daily from hard-frozen surfaces in the morning to softer snow in the afternoon. March and April are months that can bring a variety of different weather. As the un-plowed trailheads and access roads start melting, we will post updates on improved access to the harder to reach destinations. Stay tuned!
