June Trail Report

We’ll take all the recent moisture if these wildflowers keep blooming! The dashes of purple, red, yellow, and white alongside the Whitefish Trail seem to last longer this season, and we have heard reports (and seen ourselves) that this year’s huckleberry crop could be BIG. The recent rain has also been great for the tread and will hopefully keep fire season at bay this summer.

The new ‘Baby Beaver’ trail down to Beaver Lake is almost complete, and we will announce when the tread is firm enough to explore. Lakeshore improvements at Beaver Lake will start next month including a trail kiosk, expanded parking, a lake viewing platform, benches, footpaths, and improved pedestrian access to the water.

Recent storms have toppled trees across the trail, and WT Coordinator Carrie and volunteer-extraordinaire Bill Love are clearing them as fast as the reports arrive. Overall, the entire Whitefish Trail is in great shape for all types of non-motorized recreation. Lace up your hiking shoes and have fun out there!
