National Trails Day @ Spencer and Spring Adopt-a-Trail Workdays

WLP partnered with Flathead Area Mountain Bikers on National Trails Day, Saturday, June 3 at Spencer Mountain with a workday on the Whitefish Trail in East Spencer. Volunteers helped WLP and FAMB build roughly 150 feet of new trail to re-route around a steep section of trail in East Spencer. Work continued this week with our new trail coordinator and the FAMB trail crew working on a 400-foot reroute around a rutted section of trail. The entire new section is now open and ready for hikers, bikers, and equestrians to enjoy.

In addition to organizing the National Trails Day event, Trail Coordinator Sarah has also been working with several of our Adopt-A-Trail crews in May to spruce up sections of trail that experience high use, including the Lion Mountain Cliff band and Reservoir Trail. Thanks to Big Sky Recovery, Spotted Bear Spirits, Grouse Mountain Estates, and Stack Financial Management/InvesTech Research for their dedication and time giving back to the Whitefish Trail! Next week Sarah will be on the Whitefish Trail with Parkside Credit Union, Whitefish Mountain Resort, and Windemere Realty. We couldn't do all the required WT maintenance without support from local businesses and partners.
