With over 25 miles of trail on the ground and plans to open new trails at Spencer Mountain, a new Learning Pavilion at Lion Mountain, and completion of the Beaver Lake conservation easement, the Whitefish Trail has hit its stride and is celebrating with their annual “Hootenanny” event on Friday, August 22, 2014 in Depot Park in downtown Whitefish from 5:00p.m.– 9:00p.m.  The gates will open at 4:30p.m. and participants are encouraged to walk or ride their bikes to the event.

The Lil’ Smokies, The New Wave Time Trippers (Aka “1985”) and Moonshine Mountain will perform live in the park. Kid’s activities will include a bike rodeo and obstacle course, climbing rock wall, hula hooping, art station and more. A community thumbprint tree project and raffle are also planned, with food and beverages available for purchase.  Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the gate, kids 10 and under free. Tickets can be purchased at the Great Northern Brewery and Glacier Cyclery & Nordic.

The fundraising event is presented by Don K Subaru and made possible through support from First Interstate Bank and the Glacier Restaurant Group. Paddlefish Sports, Great Northern Cycles and many Whitefish businesses have donated raffle prizes (including a SUP and bike), and Great Northern Brewery is providing beer and root beer. The music is provided by Great Northern Bar sponsoring the Lil’ Smokies, Crush Lounge sponsoring New Wave Time Trippers (Aka “1985”), and Craggy Range Bar & Grille sponsoring Moonshine Mountain. All of the bands will be playing downtown after the festival in their respective sponsor’s establishment.
