Wildlife/Urban Interface – Speaker Series
September 13, 2015 - 10:00 pm - September 14, 2015 - 12:00 am
Russ Talmo with Defenders of Wildlife will speak at Learning Pavilion on the Whitefish Trail on September 13th. Russ is a former Bear Biologist and currently works in human-wildlife conflict and coexistence with Defenders of Wildlife. He will be discussing “Living with wildlife and the use of electric fencing to reduce conflicts.” Their Electric Fence Incentive Program operates across Montana, Idaho and Wyoming to secure garbage, chicken coops, beehives, fruit trees and other attractants that can draw grizzlies and black bears to your property. He will explain the necessity of properly installed, bear-resistant electric fencing as a simple and effective way to deter bears. He will also explain how you can participate in their program to receive technical and financial assistance toward electric fencing.
Please come to the first speaker in the September speaker series and learn more about this excellent organization. Defenders is a national non-profit organization with a field office in Missoula, MT.
Meet at the Lion Mountain Trail head and walk to the Learning Pavilion, just a half mile up the gravel road.
