Spencer Mtn Freeride Trails Official Opening!
July 18, 2015 - 9:00 pm - July 19, 2015 - 2:00 am
From Flathead Fat Tires FaceBook Page:
“Flathead Fat Tires is pleased to announce that the Spencer trails are about to be official! We can now ride the trails and work on them without the worry of the trails being torn out. This also means that those green temporary closure signs are (finally) going away!
To celebrate this occasion, we are organizing a group ride and a bbq on Saturday, July 18th. We’ll meet at 3pm at the trailhead for the ride and then make our way back to the parking lot for a bbq (probably around 6pm). If you’re not sure about what all’s tucked away in the woods up there, we’re happy to show you around! For the BBQ, we will have snacks and some burgers, but feel free to bring the protein of your choice. Please BYOB. Please carpool.
Here’s some background info:
For many years FFT has worked with the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation, the City of Whitefish and the Whitefish Legacy Partners to come to an agreement on managing these trails. FFT is responsible for the cost of the license fee and maintenance of the trails. Separately, the Whitefish Legacy Partners is going to maintain an 8 mile loop at Spencer, which will be officially opening at a later date.
Based on the agreement, all trail work must be done through FFT so that we can assure that the features meet the trail guidelines. If you have a great idea for a trail modification, please contact us instead of making that change. Unapproved trail work will jeopardize the trails for everyone!
