Fire Ecology Guided Hike
July 21, 2015 - 12:00 am - 2:00 am
Fire is an essential ecological process vital to the health of ecosystems in the landscapes of the Northern Rocky Mountains. Despite the recent moisture, North West Montana is experiencing historic drought conditions and entering the period of the year when lightning from thunderstorms initiate new fires. There is still two months of fire season ahead. Join retired USFS Forester and Representative Ed Lieser for a conversation on the ecological and social implications of fire. Ed will lead this hike focusing on forest and fire ecology and facilitate a discussion on forest and fire management.
